With elements of its big sister in midtown Atlanta, South City Kitchen Vinings brings a combination of energy and comfortable sophistication to a new neighborhood. Traditional, fresh ingredients prepared in an open exhibition kitchen are used to create our version of contemporary Southern cuisine. The restaurant features an oversized bar with communal tables and cozy booths as well as a dining room lined with French doors that open to a spacious outdoor patio.
About Executive Chef Nathan McGrath
With 15 years of experience in the culinary industry, Nathan McGrath brings his creativity and modern take on cuisine to his new role as executive chef at South City Kitchen Vinings.
McGrath has been a part of the Fifth Group family since 2011, serving as sous chef at Alma Cocina. During his four years at Alma Cocina, he helped grow the business and reputation of the restaurant, solidifying Alma’s place as a premier dining restaurant in downtown Atlanta. Prior to joining Fifth Group, McGrath held positions at The Boulders Resort and Golden Door Spa in Phoenix, AZ from 2007 to 2011. During his time in Arizona, McGrath honed his skills at two of the resorts’ acclaimed restaurants, Latilla and Palo Verde. McGrath received his associate’s degree in culinary arts from Le Cordon Bleu Atlanta.
A native Georgian, McGrath grew up in the metro-Atlanta city of Cumming. He now lives in Lawrenceville with his fiancée and their two boys, Nathan Jr. and Declan. When he is not helming the kitchen at South City Kitchen Vinings, McGrath enjoys brewing homemade beer and wine, and spending time with his family.
